The most important question anyone can ask themselves is, “What is my source of truth?” With that question, one will know where their value/belief system is defined. If you say the Bible – God’s Word, do you accept every aspect as God’s revealed Word or do you pick and choose what you want? If you pick and choose, God’s Word is not your source of truth – you are. To say God’s Word is your source of truth, then, you must believe every jot and tittle to be absolute truth.
This is crucial because Satan’s first temptation was to get Adam and Eve to doubt God’s Word. They eventually decided that God was hiding something from them and partook of the forbidden fruit, thus allowing sin to enter God’s universe.
I once heard a message on Satan’s desire to cause you to doubt your faith. That is not accurate. If Satan can get you to doubt God’s Word as absolute truth, then he has already destroyed your faith. Faith is built on God keeping His Word.
For about 60 years now, there has been an attack on God’s Word and the truths therein. The first evidence was the Supreme Court’s decision about prayer in school. This attack was on the awareness that we are dependent on a Creator for all our substance. The second was the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion. This undermined the value of life. I share with people that life does not begin at conception but in the Garden when God breathed life into Adam. Life has continued ever since then – that is why God is the only one in charge of life. A new life begins at conception, but that life is a continuounce of life that began when God breathed His life into us in the Garden.
Chuck Colson said that crime is a moral issue. That is extremely accurate and the very reason why jail and prison ministry is necessary. The crime committed is a direct result of violating God’s absolute moral code as revealed in His Word. When one realizes that what happened was not just a mistake, but a direct violation of God’s moral code; then rehabilitation can occur when the offender recognizes he/she has sinned against God and must repent (complete change of mind) and call upon God’s forgiveness and live a life of obedience. God’s forgiveness does not take away consequences, but will put the offender on a new path of righteousness for God’s name sake.
When David sinned by committing adultery with Bathsheba, in his repentant prayer he said against God, and God only, had he sinned. The sin action was with Bathsheba, but the absolute sin was against God and His revealed Word.
Only when we finally realize that by dismissing God and God’s Word from our society and culture. we have not only sinned against God but brought on much of the current issues of moraless society. By returning to God through repentence, there will be a healing of our land. If my people…..
Only by accurately speaking God’s Word, in love, will we see a change in the lives of those we minister to and in our own lives.
What is your source of truth? As for me and my house, our source of truth is God’s Word and we will seek to honor and serve Him.
Judy Entz and Anita Couser lost their homes in the recent tornados. Please be in prayer for them as they seek to rebuild their homes and lives. I have received word that they have praised the Lord for his protection and outpouring of grace and mercy in many meeting their needs.
